| Review: Today.As good as the previous one seen, and as moving.Narnia was taken several generations for rights of foreigners who settle the Telmarines. Prince Caspians father, the king, was killed and his uncle is the usurper. (Can you tell Hamlet?). Caspian is on the run. Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter are called to help the Horn of princes as needed. Caspian is hidden underground with the Narnians that Telmarinos extinct.Alliances thought formed with talking animals and various creatures, and even the dwarves and minotaurs previously allied with the White Witch - all opposed to foreigners in Narnia. Several exploits and battles ensue.Aslan shown briefly later in the film. The White Witch has even a small scene.This allegorical film is much less than the first, much less divisive brother among four young English - Peter, Edmund, Lucy and Susan. They are much safer. especially Edmund.Action sequences are top quality, and seems to have used less digital people of The Lord of the Rings, which was fine, if you saw a rider in the distance, he was a real man and horse. Prince Caspian, interestingly, was often a mess, Peter and Edmund essentially saved his throne for him. At least Aslan showed confidence in him.What was strange was that although this film was made in New Zealand (as usual!), Slovenia and Poland, all sounded Telmarines veíay Spanish! ? They all had Spanish accents, and even Caspian, played by Ben Barnes (born in London) spoke with a Spanish accent. Italian Actor who played Miraz said the director wanted an accent of all new Telmarines.Best such talking animals. Trufflehunter (badger) and Reepicheep (sword-wielding mouse with attitude) As others have said, the new Narnia can be seen as a parallel to the modern world in which old beliefs are violated. Who believes in Aslan nowadays? asks Trumpkin (dwarf), when it is first Caspian. Those who cling, as badgers are rented: this links to faith.I Lewis's religious views can not say more about this film without giving spoilers. But it was great. |
